ZF North America, Inc. is looking to add an External Communications Lead to the staff at its North American team in Northville, Michigan. This is an exciting position offering the right candidate the opportunity to drive external communications in a fast-paced and ever changing technology company.

•Manage regional headquarters’ external communication strategy and execution
•Establish and maintain relationships with media for all divisions/ business units, acting as a primary point of contact for industry, business and local press within the region
•Collaborate with global marketing and communications department to develop and implement strategic communications concepts
•Develop innovative stories lines that communicate the companies goals and strategic initiatives
•Engage and develop organization’s executives and subject matter experts as key industry experts and company spokespersons
•Create content for press releases, byline articles and keynote presentations
•Collaborate to develop and execute communication plans that support various initiatives throughout the year, including trade shows, and media, customer and internal events
•Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting clients and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them
•Write, copyedit, proofread and revise various communications materials
•Other duties as assigned
•BA or MA in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Journalism
•8 to 10 years of PR agency and/or in-house communications, journalism or PR experience
•A primary contact and effective spokesperson with internal and external stakeholders including media, business units, plants, human resources and employees
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Extensive knowledge working with traditional and non-traditional media
•Excellent skills and passion for communications and developing relationships within all levels of the organization
•Motivated and positive self-starter who is able to work independently, collaboratively and cross-functionally
•Ability to multi-task and handle various projects simultaneously within tight deadlines
•Proficient in MS Office, strong familiarity with social media platforms
•Ability to travel 20-30 percent of the time including internationally
Preferred Skills and Experience:
•Working relationships in the automotive and technology fields.
•Strong familiarity and experience using AP Style
•Ability to learn basic technical knowledge quickly and apply learned knowledge
•Experience in a fast-paced, high growth environment
