Marketing & Communication Manager

Supervisor: Executive Director

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in communications or related field
  • 3 – 5 years experience in a role with similar responsibilities preferably with a nonprofit entity
  • Successful writing and editing experience with a variety of print and online communications media
  • The ability to take the knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages, and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels
  • Experience utilizing social media for organization awareness and fundraising
  • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, and other supporters
  • Proficient in MS office, word, excel, and PowerPoint

Job Summary:

The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing an integrated communications effort that includes press releases, an electronic newsletter, an annual report, and social media. In addition, the Marketing & Communication Manager will assist the Executive Director in maintaining and growing major donor relationships and the Board with event communication/promotional support.

Responsibilities:

Communications

  • Develop key messaging for the organizations annual giving campaigns, events, and other fundraising campaigns
  • Write content for press releases, donor communications, and website
  • Design, write and distribute a quarterly electronic newsletter and annual report to existing donor/supporter list
  • Develop targeted media pitches and coordinate media interviews as opportunities arise
  • Represent MCREST at community meetings and events

Social Media

  • Develop and execute social media presence and growth strategy
  • Develop and execute a content calendar including targeted posts on multiple platforms
  • Monitor and respond to comments on all platforms
  • Coordinate digital advertising during an annual giving campaign

Donor Support

  • Develop a strategic plan for Executive Director to execute in maintaining and growing relationships with an existing list of major donors
  • Help Executive Director create written and electronic communications to reach major donors
  • Generate fresh and innovative ideas to help increase donor loyalty

Website Management

  • Manage website content updates and oversee design updates
  • Direct and advise website manager with new page creation for events and fundraising campaigns

Event Support

  • Work with Resource & Development Committee on planning and executing events including attending all meetings
  • Provide communications/promotional support for all events, including graphic design (with an outside consultant as needed)
  • Assist in the solicitation of sponsors for events

Leadership

  • Collaborate with Board and Staff to develop and execute an annual fund development plan
  • Track and measure the effectiveness of integrated communications effort
  • Attend Board meetings as requested
  • Contribute to the total effectiveness of the organization, communicating openly, addressing issues proactively, and working as a positive, engaged team member
  • Perform requested work as required
