Managing Communications in the Storm of the Century

June 22, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am
Free

On March 8, 2017, sustained tropical storm-force winds battered southern Michigan, toppling trees into power lines and snapping utility poles, leading to the largest weather event in DTE Energy’s history. Nearly 800,000 customers lost power. For nine straight days, DTE’s corporate communications team worked around the clock to keep the public and employees informed about the status of restoration, shaping the story and staying on top of shifting customer, media and social sentiments as crews worked tirelessly to get the lights back on at every home and business impacted by the wind.

Attendees will take away tips and techniques for communicating with all audiences during a crisis.

Speakers:

Stephanie Beres, APR, Manager, DTE Media Relations
Randi Berris, Manager, DTE Electric Communications

Moderator:

Pete Ternes, Manager, DTE Gas Communications

There is no charge to attend, but space is limited. Please RSVP to Nancy Skidmore at nskidmore@earthlink.net.

Free parking is available in the MGM Grand Detroit Parking Garage at 1777 – 3rd Street in Detroit. Access to DTE Energy is on the second floor of the parking garage.
